My GLP-1 Weight Loss Journey – Week 1 Check-in

Hey everyone! :waving_hand:

I’ve been lurking here for a while, reading about everyone’s experiences with semaglutide and tirzepatide, and I finally decided to start my own journey. Figured I’d document it here to stay accountable and hopefully help others who are considering the same path.

A Little Background

I’m a 38-year-old woman who’s struggled with weight for most of my adult life. I’ve tried just about everything – keto, intermittent fasting, calorie counting, you name it. I’d lose 20 lbs, gain back 25, and the cycle continued. My doctor mentioned GLP-1 medications after my last checkup when we discussed my metabolic health markers.

Week 1 Experience

Day 1-3: Started on the lowest dose of semaglutide. Honestly didn’t feel much different at first. Maybe slightly less hungry at dinner time, but nothing dramatic.

Day 4-5: This is when I started noticing the appetite suppression everyone talks about. I actually forgot to eat lunch on Day 5 – that NEVER happens to me. No nausea so far, knock on wood.

Day 6-7: Food noise is definitely quieter. I used to think about snacks constantly, especially in the evenings. Now I can watch TV without automatically reaching for something to munch on.

Early Observations

  • Appetite: Noticeably reduced, but not in an uncomfortable way
  • Energy: About the same, maybe slightly better since I’m not having afternoon sugar crashes
  • Side Effects: Some mild constipation (drinking more water seems to help)
  • Cravings: The constant background “I want something sweet” feeling is almost gone

Questions for the Community

For those of you further along in your journey:

  1. When did you start seeing meaningful scale changes?
  2. Any tips for managing the constipation issue?
  3. Did you adjust your eating patterns, or just eat less of the same foods?

I know it’s still super early, but I’m cautiously optimistic. Would love to hear from others who are just starting out or who remember what those first weeks were like.

Thanks for reading! :folded_hands:
