FDA Approves Wegovy Pill - Is This a Game Changer?

Big news! The FDA just approved the oral version of Wegovy (semaglutide) for weight loss in late December. This means no more injections for those who qualify!

Key highlights:

  • Same active ingredient as Ozempic and injectable Wegovy

  • Studies show it’s about as effective as the injections for weight loss

  • Both Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly are now offering $150/month pricing for people paying out of pocket

What this means for us:

This could be a game-changer for people who have needle phobia, travel frequently, or want a more discreet option.

Discussion questions:

  1. Would you switch from injections to a pill if the effectiveness is similar?

  2. Has anyone tried oral semaglutide already (like Rybelsus)?

  3. What do you think about the $150/month price point?

I’m curious to hear everyone’s thoughts! The landscape of GLP-1 medications is changing fast.

OMG this is HUGE news! I’ve been on injectable Wegovy for 8 months and lost 85 lbs - absolutely life-changing. But I’d be lying if I said the injections don’t get old sometimes. A pill option? Sign me up! :flexed_biceps:

I’m curious about the absorption though - anyone know if the efficacy is comparable to the injection? The convenience factor alone would be worth a small trade-off for me.
